Missouri's Southwest

In the southwest region are two of the fastest growing cities. They are Nixa and Ozark and both are in Christian county. Nixa is just 5 minuets south of Springfield and 30 minutes north of Branson. It calls itself the “Crossroads of the Ozarks”. The population is 21,010 as of the census in 2000. The low cost of living is part of the reason for it’s accelerated growth. In 1990 there were 1,899 housing units. In 2000 there were 5,025. That equates to a 162% growth rate. All housing units were urban not rural. In the 2000 the median house value was $90,800 and the median income was $37,655. The average commute time is 24 minutes. The Nixa school system employs the largest amount of people which is over 500.

Up and coming as well is Ozark, Missouri. In 2003 the population was tallied at 13,070. The median income was $34,210 and the median value of the homes $90,300. In 2000 the amount of housing units was 3,918. Nearby Springfield has 2 large hospitals, and boasts of Southwest Missouri State University, Drury University, Webster University, Southwest Baptist just to mention a few of the schools of higher education. For the outdoor enthusiast there is the Bass Pro Shop. It’s just the place to get the right fishing pole or that special colored jig to catch “The Big One”!

Both Nixa and Ozark are just a hop, skip, and a jump from some of the most scenic areas in the state. Table Rock Lake State Park invites you to come and play. There is camping, hunting, fishing, boating, luxury resorts, just for you and your family. Meramec Cave is one of many caves in Missouri that can be toured. Branson Missouri is one of the visiting highlights for vacationers and residents alike. Take a trip back in time at Silver Dollar City. It is a great attraction for both the young and the seniors.
