North and Northeastern Missouri

Moving across the state to the town of Kirksville, Missouri, we find one of the more relaxed lifestyle cities. The estimated population in 2003 was 17,280 and the median age 23 years old. Kirksville’s homes are priced in the $73,000 to$117,000. Styles vary from small bungalows to classic Victorian homes. There is plenty of acreage available for farming or ranching. Area lakes, rivers and forests such as Hazel Creek Lake and Big Creek State Forest house some of the nation’s best public hunting and fishing opportunities. Small and large mouth bass, perch, bluegill and catfish almost guarantee your daily limit. Hunters from all over the nation use northeast Missouri for hunting wild turkey and deer, as the area is home to thousands of acres of public and private hunting grounds.

Hannibal, Missouri hangs tight on the northeast Missouri border! The home of Sammuel Clemmens (or better known as Mark Twain) is located there and a museum in his honor adds to the historic value of the town. A statue of Mr. Twain overlooks the mighty Mississippi. If you want to experience of the old days, take a steamboat ride on the river! Tourism keeps the economy boosted here and General Mills employs nearly 800 people. The population of Hannibal is 17,700 with the average aged person to be 36 years old. A quiet town, Hannibal offers a wide range of styles of homes. A 2 bedroom 1 bath home lists in the $60,000 price range. Of the 7,886 homes there are over 800 ready to be occupied.
